A key factor was the provision of videoconferencing between NHS and university sites which can be used for innovative teaching and learning. As a contractor and partner of BT, we equipped a total of sixteen sites, including North Tyneside Hospital (illustrated). Each location is fitted with custom-built videoconferencing and interactive presentation facilities, featuring a Polycom VSX7400e system.
Videoconferencing images are displayed on a 42” NEC plasma screen, with audio routed via a high quality amplifier to wall mounted speakers. A second plasma display with a touch sensitive SMART board overlay enables interactive teaching sessions to be shared with other partners.
The source equipment is rack mounted in a bespoke veneered cabinet including a DVD/VHS player. A cordless AMX touch panel allows teaching sessions to be controlled from anywhere in the room.
