Lighting is the key for setting the mood and creating a memorable visual experience
A typical audio visual conference package usually involves a wide range of essential technology – from stage sets and screens to projectors, LCD displays and sound systems – not to mention webcasting equipment, voting handsets and computer networks. But more often than not, the most memorable visual impact is generated by a relatively inexpensive element that’s too often taken for granted.
Lighting is the key for setting the mood and creating a memorable visual experience. Allied to good sound, lighting design can be used to create, manipulate and orchestrate the ambience of any event – from the smooth and calm to the dramatically exhilarating.
Some tools of the trade – the lighting units themselves – have not changed a lot over recent years but the new breed of low energy, high brightness LED lighting has heralded an environmental revolution. LED light units use far less power than other lighting, generate low heat output and have a longer working life.
They can be controlled directly without additional dimmers or colour gels and are more visible than conventional lighting under daylight – better for outdoor events. LED lights can’t produce a hard-edged beam but we have plenty of other solutions for that!
The other big change is in control technology. With today’s sophisticated computer lighting desks, seemingly bewildering sequences and breathtaking effects can be programmed and activated perfectly on cue. And what a difference that can make to your show!
FOLLOW SPOT
1200WOld school, but essential for awards ceremonies! With adjustable focus and iris, follow spots hold a bright spotlight on people, like awards winners walking up to the stage or performers on stage for extra impact.

Hazers are designed to produce a vapour cloud (or haze) which makes light beams stand out for a far greater effect. A venue can be filled with haze prior to, or during an event without creating an overtly distracting cloud - the more haze that is used the greater the impact from the beams of the moving lights on the show.

Versatile new LED light for colour wash effects. Compact and extremely powerful for its size (1250 lumens), tough, convection cooled and silent in operation. Only 80W – run a dozen off one 13A socket! They are also IP65 rated so can be used outside to highlight building features such as pillars, arches, walkways or truss rigs.

Clipped together or daisy-chained, Color Block builds a complete LED system using stock of just one generic fixture type - including battens and ‘blinders’. We use them primarily as battens to uplight stage sets, creating coloured effects over the whole set, from scrolling rainbows to block colour changes which alter the entire look of a set at the flick of a switch.

The key intelligent light for most of our events. Two gobo wheels, a colour wheel, dimmer, shutter, prism and focus make it ideal for conference work. The pan/tilt head allows it to project the beam at almost any angle allowing for slow moving moody scenes to flash searchlight effects. Swappable gobos allow for client logos to be projected at any angle – from static set branding to sweeping across the venue for greater impact.

The heart of a conference or live event lighting show. Our modern lighting desks can control a large number of ‘intelligent’ and traditional lighting fixtures. Their high processing power enables our designers to create lighting shows quickly and easily, for even the most intricate programmes, giving your presentation a truly professional polish.
