Interactive Audience Response & Voting Systems

The popularity of television shows has been instrumental in improving awareness of
audience response and voting systems, but some conference organisers remain unaware of the potential benefits of offering their audience a system that allows them to participate.

Audience response system

Using simple handsets, voting systems add up the responses of audience members and instantly display the group results. With a medical case history it creates valuable data for medical education. Responses to a list of business options produce a strategic planning tool. A list of questions with a points value provides a stimulating test or ‘game show’ format...

Saville Voting Systems & Audience reponse solutionsWith market growth and improved technology, the cost of hiring a large audience voting system is within the reach of most budgets and a tailored package is now simple to incorporate.

The fact that audience members are given a personal handset is a key factor in terms of motivation and concentration. This makes participants feel both valued and involved - and ready to give opinions. The benefit is realistic, group-based feedback, providing powerful analytical data.

Fequently Asked Questions about audience response systems:
Collapse all | Expand all
How does an audience response system work?

Our interactive audience response system uses small wireless radio-frequency keypads that communicate with a radio-frequency receiver.

The system allows an audience to vote or respond to ‘on screen’ questions which can have a number of answer options.

When prompted by the presenter, the audience submit their responses on the interactive keypads, and the results are then displayed live ‘on-screen’ for everyone to see.

Are the keypads user friendly?

The keypads are very easy to use.

To answer, the audience simply select their response from the corresponding keypad button or buttons (i.e. by pressing the 'A' button on the keypad for answer option A), the keypad  LED will then ‘blink’ green to confirm that the vote has been received. If the user needs to change their response they can simply key in their new response option (as long as the polling is still open) The system will only remember the last option entered.

Full instructions are located on the back of the keypad wallet and a “How to use your keypad” slide is normally inserted into the presentation. We also recommend where applicable using an informal light-hearted question at the beginning of a session to allow the delegates to familiarise themselves with the keypads and how the voting process works.

What is the usual response time from user choice to results on screen?

As soon as the question voting has ended, the results are usually displayed immediately on-screen for everyone to see however the system can also be set to only reveal the answers when prompted.

During voting an on-screen response counter can show the number of keypads that have voted – this allows the audience and the presenter to see how a vote is progressing..

Sometimes it is more preferable to use an animated countdown indicator for a more “gameshow” feel which encourages people to cast their votes.

How are the results displayed?

The results of a vote can be displayed using many of the usual statistical charts  such as pie charts, vertical bar charts, horizontal charts etc.

The presentation can be customised to fit in seamlessly with your existing branding or we can create a unique template for your event.

Can individuals be tracked?

Each keypad can have a unique ID number that can be allocated to an audience member which allows the system to track their responses and allows the computer to create a report for that individual .

Are multiple responses possible?

Yes, the system can accept multiple responses to questions as well as allowing voters to prioritise a set of options.

How do we get the results after the the event?

After the event we usually supply a copy of the powerpoint  presentation that will have all the result charts as seen on the day together with a spreadsheet containing all the responses from all the questions for all of the keypads.

We can supply detailed reports in Excel format to cover many different variables including demographics. Please call and we will be happy to advise.
What equipment do you use and what do you require from us?

The voting system consists of two laptop computers, the  number of  keypads required ( we even bring a few extras just in case!) and the receiver.

At the venue you would need some form of display device to show the presentation such as a large Plasma or LCD screen or a projection system  depending on the size of the event. There would also need to be a switcher to switch the signal to the display system between the voting computers and the computers that you may be using to give  the presentations with.

We are happy to advise on your specific requirements and can supply a competitive quotation for any extra AV equipment that you may need.

Onsite we will require a power source, some space on the A.V. desk for our 2 'Voting Laptops' and a VGA input directly into either the main projector or a VGA multi-input switcher.

What events/venues can you handle?

We’re very experienced at what we do and we’ve worked on a broad range of different events from Pharmaceutical Investigator Meetings to large Blue-chip Sales Conferences.

Our trained operator's have also worked at many different venues including: hotels, International conference centres, exhibition areas and lecture theatres.

We can handle events of any size, so let us know the exact details and we’ll be happy to offer you a competitive quotation.

Can I make last minute changes to the questions?

We would always try to have the show programmed in advance of any event but as this is not always possible we are happy to do our utmost to accommodate any last minute changes, indeed some events require that the questions are created as the event progresses which is an format we have covered on many occasions.
